Basic rules of the Razz poker game

Whenever you are trying to play a game that is a little bit different, you may want to try and play Razz poker. In Razz Poker, you play it much like you would seven card stud. However, there is one main rule change that you have to keep in mind. You are trying to get the lowest possible hand.

Now, let's talk about the way the betting goes, as well as how the cards are dealt. First, you deal each player two cards face down. Then you deal each player one card face up. From this point there is a round of betting for everyone. After the betting is down, then you deal three more cards face up (each card is followed by another round of betting). This game gets a big pot very quickly. Then for the seventh card you deal it face down, and everyone has a final round of betting.

One important rule to remember when playing Razz poker is the fact that flushes and straights do not count in this game. The only things that you have to look out for are pairs and high cards. So, for example, if you have an Ace, king, queen, jack, ten, nine, eight. That would be a very low hand. Even though it is a straight, it does not count in Razz. That hand would be lower than a hand that had only a pair of two's. It takes a few hands to get into Razz poker, but once you do you will not want to stop. It is just that much fun.
